Create a promotion and choose the right settings

Promotional campaigns let you offer a discount on the first month of subscription to attract new subscribers more easily and boost your conversions. Here's how to create one, and how to choose the most profitable setting for your situation.

How do I create a campaign?

Go to Settings > Promotions, then click New campaign.

Then choose the discount percentage you want to offer, from 5% to 100%, for the first month of subscription.

👉 You can deactivate your campaign at any time from your settings.

Rules to know

Which period does the discount apply to?

The promotion is only valid for the first month of subscription.

Can I run several campaigns at the same time?

No, only one campaign can be active at a time. A new campaign automatically replaces the previous one.

Can a fan combine several discounts?

No. Discounts can't be combined. If several offers are available, the one most advantageous for the fan is always applied automatically.

Example: if your promotional campaign offers 50% off and a discount voucher offers 70% off, the fan will get the 70% discount.

ℹ️ Good to know: a fan can only benefit from one discount above 50% (promotion or discount voucher) every six months with the same creator.

Which setting should I choose for my situation?

The right percentage mainly depends on two things: your current number of subscribers, and whether or not you sell pay-per-item content (paid messages, unlockable media) on top of your subscription. The table below details the recommended setting for each case, based on an analysis of 961 campaigns.

Your situation Recommended discount Example for a €10 subscription Duration Observed result
YOU SELL PAY-PER-ITEM CONTENT
Fewer than 70 subscribers per fortnight
the most common case
−30% to −50% off your subscription price €5 to €7 ongoing +€83 to +€122 median gain over 14 days, and 84% of creators come out ahead: the best setting in the whole panel.
More than 70 subscribers per fortnight
you have a base to protect
−50% maximum off your subscription price €5 7- to 14-day campaign +28% volume but −22% subscription revenue: your fans would have paid full price. Pay-per-item content earns 2.3× the discounted subscription and makes up for it.
YOU DON'T SELL PAY-PER-ITEM CONTENT
Whatever your volume
the only setting that works
−30% maximum off your subscription price €7 ongoing +34% subscription revenue and 89% of creators come out ahead: the highest success rate in the study.
You discount by more than 30%
avoid
more than −30% €3 to €5 — +45% volume, but a median gain of +€2 and one creator in two loses out: you work more for the same revenue.
You offer the first month free
avoid at all costs
−100% €0 — +171% volume, but −31% revenue and a median gain of −€10: only 18% of creators come out ahead.
YOU'RE STARTING OUT, OR COMING BACK AFTER A BREAK
You have no active subscribers
nothing to protect
your choice, up to −100% no revenue to protect ongoing The offer builds an audience where there wasn't one: 2 new fans per creator in 14 days, starting from zero. Move up to a row above as soon as you have a base.

👉 Key takeaway: what matters most isn't just how well you're set up on messaging, but above all whether you already have pay-per-item content in place when you launch the campaign.

Should I prepare pay-per-item content before launching my campaign?

Yes, it's what makes the biggest difference. Prepare a paid piece of content before launching your campaign and send it within 72 hours of the subscription. A single piece of content offered at that moment can raise your median gain from +€10 to +€83.

The discount attracts qualified fans; it's then your activity that turns this attention into revenue. The creators who benefit most from a campaign welcome their new subscribers with real messaging follow-up: chat, personalized replies, private media sales.

👉 Without paid content behind it, your campaign remains a simple discount rather than a real acquisition lever.

How long should I let my campaign run?

Unless the table says otherwise, let it run for at least 21 days, without touching it. Many creators stop too early: over a 28-day period, half of the fans who subscribe do so after 7.5 days on average, and one creator in three stops their campaign after only three days.

How do I know if my campaign worked?

It's the second month that counts, not the first! Only when your fans go back to the regular price can you see how many of them really stay subscribed. The renewal rate after the first month is the best indicator to check that your campaign stays profitable over time.

Creators who launched their campaign in June saw their non-promotional subscriptions grow by 31% a month later.

👉 Note the renewal date of these fans and offer them new content just before, to maximize your chances of keeping them.

Data based on 961 creators who launched a promotional offer on mym between June 19 and July 30, 2026, each compared with themselves 14 days before and 14 days after, adjusted for seasonality. These figures describe a cohort trend over six weeks and do not guarantee individual results.
